Watchlight Interactive ("we," "our," or "us") operates PlayCompass, a mobile application designed to help parents discover personalized activities to enjoy with their children. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address

  • Display name

  • Profile photo (if provided via Google Sign-In)

  • Authentication method (Google or anonymous sign-in)

Child Profile Information

To personalize activity recommendations, we collect information about your children:

  • First name (or nickname)

  • Age

  • Interests (selected from predefined categories such as sports, arts, music, science, etc.)

  • Avatar selection

We do not collect sensitive information about children such as photos, precise location, contact information, or health data.

Activity & Usage Data

To improve recommendations, we collect:

  • Activities you like or skip

  • Activity history

  • Preferences for duration, location type (indoor/outdoor), and energy level

  • Categories you prefer or want to avoid

Device & Technical Information

We collect limited technical information:

  • App version and platform (iOS/Android)

  • Session data for crash reporting

  • Error logs to improve app stability

Location Data (Optional)

With your permission, we access your device's location to:

  • Provide weather-based activity suggestions

  • Location is used only in real-time and is not stored

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide personalized activity recommendations based on your children's ages and interests

  • Remember your preferences and improve suggestions over time

  • Process subscriptions and manage your account

  • Send activity reminders and notifications (if enabled)

  • Improve app performance and fix bugs

  • Enable family sharing features (for Family tier subscribers)

Third-Party Services

PlayCompass uses the following third-party services to operate core app functionality:

  • Firebase (Google)

    • Purpose: Authentication and data storage

    • Data Shared: Account information, user profiles, and preferences

  • RevenueCat

    • Purpose: Subscription and purchase management

    • Data Shared: Anonymous user ID and purchase history

  • Google Sign-In

    • Purpose: Account authentication

    • Data Shared: Email address, name, and profile photo

  • OpenWeatherMap

    • Purpose: Weather-based activity recommendations

    • Data Shared: Approximate device location (used only for weather lookup and not stored)

Data Use & Sharing

  • We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

  • We do not use advertising SDKs.

  • We do not share data for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data Storage & Security

  • Account and profile data is stored securely in Firebase Firestore

  • Sensitive information is encrypted using industry-standard practices

  • Local app data is stored on your device using secure storage mechanisms

  • We use HTTPS for all network communications

Data Retention

  • Activity history is retained based on your subscription tier (7 days for free users, longer for paid subscribers)

  • Account data is retained until you delete your account

  • Crash reports and analytics are retained for up to 90 days

Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access your data through the app's Profile and Settings screens

  • Update your information, including child profiles and preferences

  • Delete your account and all associated data at any time

  • Opt out of location access by denying permission

  • Disable notifications through your device settings

To delete your account, go to Settings > Account > Delete Account in the app. This will permanently remove your account, child profiles, activity history, and all associated data.

Children's Privacy

PlayCompass is designed for parents and guardians to use. While we collect information about children to provide age-appropriate activity recommendations, we:

  • Collect only the minimum information necessary (name, age, interests)

  • Do not collect photos, precise location, or contact information from children

  • Do not allow children to create accounts directly

  • Do not display advertising to users

  • Do not share children's information with third parties for marketing purposes

Parents maintain full control over their children's profile information and can edit or delete it at any time.

Family Sharing

If you use our Family tier features:

  • Family members you invite can view shared child profiles

  • Activity history and preferences may be visible to family members

  • You control who has access through invite codes

  • You can remove family members at any time

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Your continued use of PlayCompass after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
